Picture this a small village nestled on the western edge of Dortmund. This is Holte-Kreta a place often overlooked yet rich in history. Holte-Kreta was once part of the independent municipality of Dellwig-Holte. This small community existed until April 1 1907. On that day it was incorporated into Luetgendortmund. Luetgendortmund itself became part of Dortmund on April 1 1928. Holte-Kreta’s history is deeply intertwined with Haus Holte. This manor house was once a stronghold of the lower nobility. It guarded the crossing of the Harpener Hellweg over the Harpener Bach. A mill pond provided water for the manor’s own mill. Later Haus Holte belonged to the knights of Haus Dellwig. In 1904 the Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG a mining company acquired the property. Today Holte-Kreta remains one of Dortmund’s smallest districts. It’s often overlooked but its quiet charm speaks volumes. It’s a place where history quietly resides. This little-known fact makes Holte-Kreta a unique piece of Dortmund’s past. The bus line 336 of the Bogestra connects Holte-Kreta to the public transport network. It runs every 30 minutes. Although small Holte-Kreta has a unique identity. It offers a glimpse into Dortmund’s past. A past shaped by a small community a manor house and a mining company. Today the area boasts a charming blend of older and newer homes.
