Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Ho Chi Minh City stands Hội Thánh Tin Lành – Chi hội Tuy Lý Vương. It’s a beacon of faith in District 8. Let’s embark on a journey through time. We’ll uncover the captivating story of this cherished place of worship. Hội Thánh Tin Lành – Chi hội Tuy Lý Vương has witnessed decades of devotion and resilience. Its roots trace back to 1945. Evangelist Nguyễn Văn Xuyên arrived in District 8. A small group of believers gathered. They were supported by Hội Thánh Bình Trước Đông. They decided to establish a new congregation. Initially, Hội Thánh Tin Lành – Chi hội Tuy Lý Vương met in a believer’s home. This home was near the Bà Tàng intersection. Due to security concerns, they had to relocate several times. In 1948, they secured a space above a shop in Xóm Củi. The congregation, still small, used this space for worship. Later, they purchased a plot of land. It was on Ngã 3 Chùa Lương Street. They built a humble wooden chapel. The congregation grew, facing challenges along the way. In 1955, their building was destroyed during the Bình Xuyên rebellion. They petitioned the government and eventually received a new plot of land at the intersection of Mạc Vân and Tuy Lý Vương streets. This is the current location of Hội Thánh Tin Lành – Chi hội Tuy Lý Vương. In 1958, Pastor Võ Thành Thỉ became the church leader. The congregation, then known as Hội Thánh Bình Tây Xóm Củi, continued to grow. In 1962, with financial support from the Christian and Missionary Alliance and donations from members, they began construction of a new church building. By November 1963, the new church, comprising a sanctuary, a dispensary, and four auxiliary rooms, was completed. It was inaugurated on November 4, 1963. Pastor Đoàn Văn Miêng presided over the ceremony. The church officially adopted the name Hội Thánh Tin Lành Tuy Lý Vương in 1969. Through trials and triumphs, Hội Thánh Tin Lành – Chi hội Tuy Lý Vương stands as a testament to unwavering faith. It continues to serve as a spiritual home for nearly 900 members. It holds a special place in the hearts of the community. It echoes with stories of devotion, resilience, and God’s enduring grace.
