Beneath the watchful gaze of Kwun Tong Bypass, nestled in the heart of Kowloon East, lies Hoi Bun Road Park. Originally built in 1990, it primarily served the working population of the then-industrial area. This transformation, part of the “Energizing Kowloon East” initiative, breathed new life into the park. The once ordinary road abutting a public cargo working area became a leisure hotspot for locals and visitors alike. The park’s 9,300 square meters were reimagined and renovated, reopening to the public in August 2021. Today, Hoi Bun Road Park boasts a vibrant array of features. Landscaped areas with multi-purpose lawns invite relaxation and recreation. A refurbished five-a-side soccer pitch caters to sports enthusiasts. An elderly fitness corner provides a space for gentle exercise. Sitting-out areas, pavilions, and shelters offer respite from the urban buzz. And for families, there are even toilets, changing rooms, a baby care room, and a first aid room. But Hoi Bun Road Park offers more than just practical amenities. It’s a place of wonder, where interactive lighting systems transform the night sky. Under the shelter of the multi-purpose area, a canopy of starry lights twinkles, mimicking the constellations. Interactive sensors allow visitors to activate patterns of the twelve constellations, creating a magical experience. As you stroll along the main passageway towards Kwun Tong Promenade, tree shadow lighting effects create a multi-sensory journey. Hoi Bun Road Park is more than just a park; it’s a symbol of urban renewal, a testament to the power of place-making, and a vibrant hub for the community.
