Are you seeking a challenge? Represent Leuphana University at the German University Championship. Hochschulsport hosts events and tournaments in Lüneburg. The “Hochschulsportfest” takes place in summer. So does the “Campus-Fußballliga.” In winter, enjoy the “Baggern statt Bolzen-Turnier” and the “Nikolausi-Turnier.” Find a team and show your skills. The university sports festival is a summer highlight at Hochschulsport. Classic games like “Spiel ohne Grenzen” are played. Kubb, Roundnet, and beach volleyball are popular. Interestingly, Lüneburg has an early connection to German football history. In 1874, a football club was founded at the Johanneum school. A match under FA rules took place in 1875. English student Richard Ernest Newell Twopeny and German teacher Wilhelm Karl Philipp Theodor Goerges were involved. This predates Konrad Koch’s work in Braunschweig.
