Ever wondered how Freiberg gets its water? It involves structures like the Hochbehälter Hilbersdorf Obere Zone. This reservoir plays a vital role in the city’s water supply.

Let’s dive into the story of the Hochbehälter Hilbersdorf Obere Zone. The Wasserzweckverband Freiberg is responsible for it. They ensure a stable and high-quality water supply. This supply primarily serves Freiberg and areas to the north and east. The water reaches as far as Nossen and Hetzdorf.

To improve this water supply, Wasserzweckverband Freiberg has been undertaking construction work here. A new service building and water chamber 2 are planned. These additions will complement the existing infrastructure.

In fact, Wasserzweckverband Freiberg has already built the new water chamber 3 for the Hochbehälter Obere Zone Zug, which lies to the west. Once operational, this chamber helps ensure water quality.

In January, visible construction began. Workers started demolishing one of the old water chambers. This cleared the area for new facilities. The demolition material is processed on-site. It is reused as building material.

Back in November 2019, construction started on water chamber 3. Initially, a large excavation pit was created. The new drinking water reservoir has a capacity of approximately 5000 m³. These construction projects guarantee Freiberg’s water future.

Moreover, a new DN 600 downpipe is under construction. It runs from the Hochbehälter Zug to Freiberg’s upper zone local network. This supplements the existing riser and downpipe. The work started in June 2019. The water pipeline construction is underway between Freiberg and Zug.

The Hochbehälter Hilbersdorf Obere Zone and its related projects show how much effort goes into providing clean water. These enhancements guarantee a reliable water supply for years to come. So, next time you turn on the tap in Freiberg, remember the Hochbehälter Hilbersdorf Obere Zone.
