How about stepping into a story of faith. It began in a humble corner of Tanjung Uncang. This is the story of HKBP Tanjung Uncang.
In 2014, the seeds of faith were sown. Services were first held at Simpang Glori. Pdt Guntur Simanjuntak led those early gatherings. Imagine worshiping in a simple space. It was a place filled with hope.
Fast forward to December 5th, 2021. A significant milestone was reached. HKBP Tanjung Uncang officially became the 51st congregation. It joined the HKBP Distrik XX Kepri. This was authorized by Decree Number 1945. The Ephorus HKBP signed it.
Pdt Renova Johnny Sitorus preached during the inaugural service. He emphasized repentance. He said it prepares the way for the Lord. The service included Pdt Sudiharry Manalu as liturgist. St D Sitinjak read the announcements. Pdt Jhonni Sirait read the decree and regulations.
Why is repentance so important? Pdt Sitorus asked. It is because our lives often stray from God’s will. Sin and injustice create distance from divine love. Advent calls us to turn back. We must cast aside what displeases God.
HKBP Tanjung Uncang started with 135 families. That is around 500 people. These families lived in Tanjung Uncang and nearby areas. Today, the church continues to serve this community.
Initially, HKBP Tanjung Uncang was led by Pdt Sudiharry Manalu. He is from HKBP Resort Mahanaim. Cal Pdt Martin Pakpahan also served.
Even after becoming a full congregation, support continued. Resort Mahanaim provided financial assistance. The goal was self-sufficiency for HKBP Tanjung Uncang.
Celebrations followed the inaugural service. Members danced with joy. Ulos cloths were presented. These special cloths were for families desiring children. Prayers were offered for their faith.
HKBP Tanjung Uncang stands as a testament. It shows the power of community. It also highlights faith in action. Its story is one of growth. It is a journey from humble beginnings. It has blossomed into a vibrant church. This church enriches the spiritual lives of many.
