The pandal is divided into two halves to show the transition from war to peace. When visitors enter, they first see elements of war. There are watchtowers, weapons, and conflict machinery. As they move closer to the idol, the contrast becomes clear. Symbolism shifts to peace, love, and happiness.
Even Goddess Durga has been reimagined. Instead of her usual combative figure, she appears peaceful. The Ashura is peacefully surrendering to her. The Goddess’s hands are in the shapes of Indian classical dance mudras. The message is a call to remember our inherent humanity amidst economic and political wars.
The Hindustan Park Sarbojanin Durga Puja committee also has equal representation of men and women in important roles. Women are slightly more in number.
