Journey with me back to 1994. A small group of Hindus in Las Vegas yearned for a spiritual home, a place to practice Sanatana Dharma. They gathered in homes, performing pujas and celebrating festivals, dreaming of a temple. This dream blossomed into the Hindu Society of Nevada. Fast forward to 1997. Land was purchased in Summerlin, thanks to the generosity of Ranjit Jain, Jaldeep Daulat, and Dipak Desai. The Hindu Temple of Las Vegas began to rise in 2000, its doors opening in April 2001. The Hindu Temple of Las Vegas became a beacon for devotees. It also welcomed Jains, offering a shared space for worship. The first priest, Panditji Gopal Krishna Panchangam, guided the early ceremonies. The Navagraha Temple was constructed in 1997, followed by residences for the priests, all supported by the community. Over the years, the Hindu Temple of Las Vegas continued to grow. Panditji Brijesh Kumar Raval joined in 2012, and Panditji Vishnuvardhana Chakrapanachar in 2016, serving the expanding Hindu and Jain communities. The Hindu Temple of Las Vegas has become more than just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant center for cultural preservation, hosting events, workshops, and even yoga classes. The Hindu Temple of Las Vegas continues to evolve. With plans for an event hall, expanded parking, and a Hanuman Mandir, it stands as a testament to the dedication and generosity of the Las Vegas Hindu and Jain communities.
