Did you know that Highland Park Church started in 1949? A group of around 130 people left another church to create this one. They had a strong commitment to traditional Bible teachings from the very beginning. Highland Park Church was originally planned for a location near Highland Park. Zoning issues changed their plans. The name stuck though even though the church is actually near Foster Park.

In that same year of 1949 the church bought the Conradt Mansion. This beautiful building dated back to World War I. The first floor became the church’s chapel. The basement a former wine cellar became a fellowship hall. The upper floors once a ballroom and more became the pastor’s home.

The main auditorium was added in 1954. It was cleverly designed to look like it was always part of the mansion. In 1956 they bought a house next door for the pastor’s family. The church grew to nearly 200 people in the early 1960s. Foreign missions were a central part of their work. Sadly a decline began in 1963 lasting for over twenty years. By 1983 attendance was down to around 70.

Despite the challenges Highland Park Church persevered. It maintained its focus on Bible study foreign missions and fellowship. Their mission today is to share the Gospel connect people and deepen their faith. The church continues to serve its community. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of this congregation. It’s a story of perseverance faith and community. It’s a story written right here at Highland Park Church.
