Whose faith led them to erect the Heckenwegkreuz? We stand here, before the Heckenwegkreuz, a silent sentinel to a past we can only imagine. This unassuming wayside cross, tucked away in Mannheim, whispers tales of devotion and resilience. Its inscription tells a story of renewal. After the expansion of the local kindergarten, the Heckenwegkreuz, weathered and perhaps slightly damaged, found a new home. It was re-erected and consecrated by Pfarrer Löckemann on December 12th, 2015. The Heckenwegkreuz is a testament to the enduring power of faith, even amidst the ever-changing landscape of a growing city. It’s a reminder that some symbols, however humble, hold deep meaning for a community and endure through the passage of time.
