Craving transformation? The Haus der Materialisierung is a vibrant hub for circular practices right here in Berlin. This building is more than bricks and mortar. It is a testament to sustainable living.

The Haus der Materialisierung, or HdM, is part of the Haus der Statistik project near Alexanderplatz. Five partners are cooperatively developing this Berlin model. They focus on cooperative urban development. Since 2018, the HdM has become a dynamic network. Actors come together driven by ecological responsibility.

Imagine a space where waste becomes treasure. That is the essence of the Haus der Materialisierung. It is Berlin’s pioneering center for secondary materials. The goal? To make using these materials a common practice in the city.

Inside the HdM, collectors and distributors of secondary materials meet creatives. These creatives are eager to explore and work with these resources. Research partners also investigate the environmental perks of using them. A digital platform enhances this collaboration.

The project started in December 2019 and ended in November 2022. It gained attention from city representatives across Germany and internationally.

Venture inside. Open workshops invite you to treat, process, repair, or upcycle materials and objects. The Textilwerkstatt, Fahrradwerkstatt, and Holzwerkstatt await you. You can also find an Elektrowerkstatt, Goldschmiedewerkstatt, and Metallwerkstatt here. Experts are on hand to help your creativity flow.

Transformation processes are explored through artistic practices. These practices revolve around material management. Discover actors, exhibitions, and events that spark change.

The Haus der Materialisierung provides educational opportunities for all ages. These programs create access to material management topics. A university project also supports the Haus der Materialisierung.

Cycles for used materials, food, and everyday items are conceived here. Visions for a circular society are tested and spread from the HdM. This reaches out to the world.

Before you leave the Haus der Materialisierung, consider its impact. Think about how this project helps Berlin. It promotes a shift toward responsible resource use. The Haus der Materialisierung is not just a building. It is a symbol of change. It embodies Berlin’s commitment to a sustainable future.
