Along our path, we’ll uncover many interesting facts. These facts concern the region’s wildlife and geology. Our journey begins at the Kaiserbuche Inn. This inn marks the starting point. It also has convenient parking.

The circular trail is family friendly. Most of it is suitable for children. The first third of the trail is even accessible with prams. However, it is not suitable for wheelchairs.

As we walk, we’ll pass the Vega Observatory Haus der Natur. We will also pass the Austro Control radar facility. Take note that cycling is prohibited on the entire circular route.

One of the Haunsberg’s highlights is the Kaiserbuche. The Kaiserbuche is also known as the Emperor’s Beech. This site is historically significant. It offers unrivalled panoramic views. Emperor Joseph II visited this spot unofficially on October 28, 1779. This visit is commemorated here. The original tree fell in a storm in 2004. A new tree has since been planted.

In 1932, the Imperial Beech was declared a natural monument. You can reach the Kaiserbuche on foot from Obertrum. The walk takes about two hours. It is also a popular destination for cyclists.

The Seenland pilgrimage trail passes the Imperial Beech. This trail follows the VIA NOVA. A stele with an audio guide stands next to the chapel. Here, visitors learn about the Emperor’s Beech. They can enjoy the view and panorama at the same time.
