A prayer. It all started with a prayer. That’s the foundation of Harvest Time Fellowship Church of God and Christ here in San Antonio. This wasn’t always a grand building. It began in 1987 with Pastor Joe Dejesa’s heartfelt plea for a Filipino-American fellowship. His prayer was answered. A military doctor from the Philippines initiated a small prayer group in Northeast San Antonio.

From humble beginnings in homes across the city the Filipino-American Christian Fellowship FACF blossomed. It quickly outgrew its intimate settings. Meetings moved to Alliance Bible Church to accommodate the growing congregation. Saturday evening services became the norm.

But God’s vision was grander. In 1991 the church expanded its reach. It wasn’t just for Filipino-Americans anymore. Lord of the Harvest Church LHC welcomed people from all backgrounds. This name change reflected their broadening horizons. Their mission grew bigger.

In 1996 a significant milestone happened. LHC purchased six acres of land. They constructed their present building off Stahl Road. Sunday services commenced a year later with 125 attendees. The church’s growth was explosive.

The year 2002 marked a pivotal shift. A new vision took hold: Win Connect Disciple and Send. This emphasis on small groups evangelism and discipleship propelled the church to over 200 weekly attendees. Their youth ministry launched citywide services and outreaches known as Blazing Furnace. These events drew hundreds even thousands of people. Many found faith.

In 2010 Harvest Time Community Church joined LHC. This merger was a testament to God’s guiding hand. Both Pastor John Jones and Pastor Joe received divine confirmation.

Fast forward to 2014. With a congregation of 300 Pastors Joe and Rose passed the torch. They entrusted the leadership to Jonathan and Hera Clatt. These younger pastors had served the church since its beginning.

Then in 2015 Jonathan and Hera became the lead pastors. Over 500 people celebrated this transition at the 24th Anniversary Service Legacy of Faith. Finally in 2018 the name changed again. They are now known as Harvest City Church. But this church building right here remains a testament to their enduring faith. A legacy built on prayer faith and a profound love for God and community.
