They envisioned a state-of-the-art skate park, complete with ramps, bowls, and rails. The project took time, with design and planning phases lasting a couple of years. During that time, a temporary “pump track” was installed, offering a taste of things to come. The pump track was a hit, drawing families and experienced skaters alike. Finally, after much anticipation, the new Harold Ickes Playground opened its gates. The transformation was remarkable. The old asphalt was replaced with a smooth, concrete skate park, a haven for skaters and BMX bikers. But the renovations didn’t stop there. Harold Ickes Playground also got a parkour space, a climbing boulder, and new landscaping.
