The park operates from sunrise to sunset every day. People can enjoy its amenities throughout the daylight hours. Harbor Highlands Park features an unlighted baseball diamond. Outdoor basketball courts without lights also exist. A children’s play area invites youthful energy. Picnic tables dot the landscape and provide places to relax.
Bird enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of species spotted here. Anna’s Hummingbirds, with their shimmering gorgets, are frequent visitors. Ruby-crowned Kinglets flit through the trees. Listen for their high-pitched calls. House Finches chirp. Orange-crowned Warblers and Yellow-rumped Warblers add color. A lucky observer might spot a Townsend’s Warbler. Generous donations followed. Colonel Griffith J. Griffith donated five square miles of the Los Feliz Rancho in 1896. He envisioned a place of recreation for all.
