Hanyang Women’s University started as Hanyang Women’s Vocational School in 1974. It was located on the Hanyang University campus. Hanyang Academy managed it.

In 1978, the school became Hanyang Women’s Junior College. In 1979, it moved to its current location. It became Hanyang Women’s College in 1998. Finally, in 2012, it achieved university status. The name changed to Hanyang Women’s University.

The university is part of the Hanyang Foundation. This foundation includes Hanyang University. It also manages schools from kindergarten to high school.

Hanyang Women’s University has grown over the years. In 2003, it established research and cooperation centers. In 2008, one department was recognized for excellence. In 2010, the university expanded its affiliations. In 2013, it opened an art museum.

The university offers various academic programs. There are 30 majors in 4 divisions. These include Technology, Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Arts & Sports. Professional bachelor’s degrees are also available.

The Division of Technology offers programs like Computer Science and Apparel Design. The Natural Sciences division includes Food & Nutrition and Dental Hygiene. Humanities & Social Sciences features Early Childhood Education and International Tourism. Arts & Sports provides Industrial Design and Sport & Leisure Studies.

Hanyang Women’s University has partnerships with universities worldwide. Student exchange programs are available. These partner universities include Long Island University and George Washington University. Students can also study at Queensland University of Technology and The University of Newcastle, Australia.

Many notable women have graduated from Hanyang Women’s University. Shim Jae-ok is a politician. Many singers have also attended. These include Kim Se-jeong from I.O.I and Solar from Mamamoo. Actresses like Choi Ji-na and Lee Se-hee are also alumni. Athletes like Ji So-yun, a footballer, have studied here.
