A humble cowherd’s lost cow led him to the Shri Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir in Jaipur. This isn’t just any temple it’s a place steeped in faith and remarkable growth.
The Shri Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir stands proudly in the Bandh valley near Jal Mahal. Decades ago it began as a simple shrine. A poor cowherd Ganga Sahay Meena lost his cow. He found the Hanuman ji idol hidden under leaves. After praying he found his cow. Grateful he vowed to offer food every month. Others joined him. The temple’s humble beginnings grew.
In 1965 Ganga Sahay Ji Meena officially established the temple. An eleven-member committee formed in 1980. The temple registered in 1995-96. A pagoda was added in 1995. The Ram Darbar consecrated in 2002. A Ganesh ji temple was added in 2009. In 2012 a Vaishno Devi temple was established.
The temple’s most striking feature is a 41-foot-tall Hanuman statue. Skilled artisans from Kerala crafted it. Maharaja Shri Narayan Das ji inaugurated it on July 18 2015. The Chhoti Kashi temple finished construction in 2018.
The Shri Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir celebrates many festivals. Hanuman Jayanti Paush Bada Mahotsav and Shravan month are major events. Smaller festivals include Maa Vaishno Devi Patotsav Sitaram Ji Patotsav Ganesh Ji Patotsav and 41 Feet Hanuman Patotsav.
