Beneath the Philadelphia sky sits Hank DeVincent Field. It’s more than just a baseball field. It’s a place where the crack of the bat echoes with the cheers of La Salle Explorers fans. Hank DeVincent Field is nestled within the vibrant La Salle University campus. The field has seen its share of history. It was named after Hank DeVincent, a former player and team captain, in 1978. Hank DeVincent Field has a capacity of 1,000 spectators, eagerly watching America’s favorite pastime. In 2007, the left field wall got a significant upgrade. It was heightened to protect nearby building windows from stray home runs. The chain link was painted green, a nod to Fenway Park’s iconic Green Monster. This wasn’t the only improvement. A new batting cage was also constructed, enhancing the facilities for the La Salle Explorers. The renovations continued in 2012 with upgrades to the dugouts. They were lengthened and improved, providing better accommodations for the teams. More recently, in 2019, Hank DeVincent Field received a complete makeover. A brand new Sprinturf DFE Extreme Field was installed. This state-of-the-art surface provides a safer and more durable playing field for both baseball and field hockey. This field is a testament to La Salle’s commitment to its student-athletes. It offers a top-tier playing experience while honoring a La Salle legend.
