Did you know that just opposite the spectacular Hangar 7 stands its more functional sibling, Hangar 8? It’s not just another aircraft hangar. Hangar 8 plays a vital role in keeping the Flying Bulls’ magnificent fleet in top condition.

Hangar 8 is where the real magic happens. It is the maintenance facility for the Flying Bulls. While Hangar 7 wows visitors with its stunning architecture and collection of aircraft, Hangar 8 ensures that every plane and helicopter is one-hundred-percent airworthy.

The Flying Bulls needed space. They also required a dedicated facility for the upkeep of their aircraft. Hangar 8 was built to meet these needs. Ground was broken in May 2002. By December 2003, the building was ready. In early 2004, all maintenance operations moved from Hangar 9 to Hangar 8.

Inside Hangar 8, expect the best working conditions. It exceeds international standards. The historic planes demand highly professional attention. Restoring these planes can take years. The hangar is equipped with underfloor heating to ensure the team’s comfort.

The team in Hangar 8 is international. Specialists come from all over the world. Mechanics work on long-defunct engine constructions. Avionics engineers maintain historic and contemporary flight instruments.

Even though it’s a maintenance hangar, Hangar 8 has architectural merit. It complements Hangar 7. The design features a triangular, netted supporting structure. Around 1650 glass plates create a striking interplay of steel and glass. This gives the building a sense of lightness.

Consider the specifications. Hangar 8 has a maximum height of 12.5 meters. The gross volume totals 26,700 cubic meters. The ground area of the hangar is 3,700 square meters.

Hangar 8 might not be open to the public. It’s the unsung hero behind the Flying Bulls’ aerial displays. So, while you marvel at the aircraft in Hangar 7, remember the dedicated team in Hangar 8. They keep these flying machines soaring through the skies.
