Hallmark Baptist Church

Envision a church, not just a building, but a testament to 75 years of unwavering faith. Hallmark Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, has been a beacon of hope since its humble beginnings in 1947. Initially known as Faith Baptist Church, this congregation of 12 charter members, led by Jesse L. Cockram, held their first services in the 7th League Civic Building. Hallmark Baptist Church’s journey reflects a deep commitment to its community and the world. The church’s very name embodies its core principles: biblically driven, personally involved, radically generous, and outwardly focused. In 1949, under the leadership of Roy N. McInnis, the church moved to Morningside Drive and South Freeway, becoming Morningside Baptist Church. The biggest transformation occurred in 1956 with the arrival of Alvis Edmonson. Edmonson not only shepherded the church for two decades but also oversaw its relocation to 7300 S. Freeway in 1964, where it finally adopted the name Hallmark Baptist Church. This era also marked the birth of Faith Promise Missions in 1966, a testament to Hallmark Baptist Church’s outward focus. Since then, the church has donated over $21 million to missions. Hallmark Baptist Church continued to grow and evolve under subsequent pastors. Raymond Dunn, who served from 1976 to 1981, spearheaded the construction of a family center. Bob Baird led the church from 1981 to 1986. Ed Walls, pastor from 1986 to 1994, secured 12 acres of land on Risinger Road, laying the groundwork for future expansion. Mike Haley, pastor from 1994 to 2016, oversaw the relocation to this land and several building programs. Since 2016, Jon Haley has continued this legacy of leadership and service. In September 2022, Hallmark Baptist Church celebrated its 75th anniversary, a milestone marked by reflections on God’s faithfulness and a renewed commitment to its mission.
