This residential building at Herrenstraße 4, with its three levels and apartment spaces, has witnessed the ebb and flow of life in this charming city. Its story begins in the late Middle Ages. Originally a sturdy stone house, Hais zum Roten Hahn underwent a baroque transformation in 1715. This included a new façade, giving the building a fresh face for a new era. In the early 19th century, the ever-evolving Hais zum Roten Hahn expanded outwards, gaining a third floor on the street side. Further renovations occurred in 1913, expanding upwards towards the rear. The ground floor experienced a final transformation in 1938, adopting a baroque revival style that recalled its earlier grandeur. A Maria-Hilf figure and the house sign, both dating back to the first half of the 18th century, adorn the building, serving as tangible links to its past.
