Emerging from the foothills of Acha Mountain, Guui-dong stretches towards the Han River. Guui-dong’s name itself whispers a tale of two villages. It’s a blend of “Gu” from Gujeong-dong and “Ui” from Sanui-dong, once nestled within Yangju-gun, Goyanju-myeon during the Joseon era. Imagine Guui-dong in those days, a tranquil landscape dotted with traditional folk villages. Fast forward to 1914, and these distinct settlements merged, becoming Guui-ri under Goyang-gun, Ttukdo-myeon. Then, in 1949, Guui-ri became part of Seoul, transforming into Guui-dong under Seongdong-gu. Finally, in 1995, a new chapter began when Guui-dong found its current home in Gwangjin District.
