Slipping through time, let’s rewind to 2001. The Gümüş Bloklar at ODTÜ Teknokent were just blueprints, a dream of innovative spaces. Fast forward to 2002, and these silver structures rise proudly on the northern edge of the Teknokent campus, gazing towards the university. The Gümüş Bloklar weren’t meant to simply house offices. They were designed to foster a vibrant environment where research and development could flourish. The architects reimagined office spaces. They incorporated open areas, natural light, and passive climate control. The Gümüş Bloklar accommodate companies of all sizes, reflecting the diverse needs of the Teknokent community. The design allows for flexibility, both horizontally and vertically. This adaptability isn’t just about interior layout. It’s woven into the very DNA of the building. The long, sprawling structure is divided into smaller blocks, creating a sense of individuality within the larger complex. A unifying roofline, a striking barrel vault, stretches the entire length, reminding us of the interconnectedness of the Gümüş Bloklar. Terraces cascade down towards the ground on the south side, creating welcoming entrances for each block. These terraces are more than just outdoor spaces. They offer opportunities for customized office layouts, blurring the lines between inside and out. The main hallway, running through the heart of each block, is the building’s central artery. A service core intersects this hallway, providing efficient distribution of utilities and further enhancing the flexibility of the office spaces. The entrance axis, nestled between the campus road and the Teknokent area, is marked by a large, light yellow aluminum canopy. This canopy cuts asymmetrically through the building’s narrow side. The section it separates is distinguished by recesses under the vaulted roof. Ramps on either side of the entrance lead to the second floor of the offices. This emphasizes the continuous flow between inside and outside. The Gümüş Bloklar are a testament to innovative design. They represent a dynamic workspace where ideas take flight.
