Guilin Old Zoo

Nestled within the verdant embrace of Seven Star Park, Guilin Old Zoo whispers tales of captivating creatures and bygone eras. Guilin Old Zoo first opened its gates in 1959. It has grown to encompass over 20 hectares, a haven for over 100 species and 1,000 animals. The zoo is renowned for its successful breeding program of giant pandas, a testament to its dedication as a scientific and educational base for these beloved creatures. Guilin Old Zoo is unique because it’s the only such facility outside the pandas’ native habitat. Imagine strolling through meticulously crafted exhibits, where the environment mimics the animals’ natural homes. Observe kangaroos bounding across sandy expanses, swans gliding gracefully across shimmering water, and flamingos taking flight within spacious mesh enclosures. The Panda Hall is a must-see at Guilin Old Zoo. Here, you can witness these gentle giants in their element, particularly active during their morning breakfast and playtime. For a dose of entertainment, the Animal Performing Hall showcases the talents of white tigers, lions, monkeys, goats, black bears, and parrots. These skilled performers put on a captivating show three times a day, at 11:00, 13:30, and 15:00. Guilin Old Zoo’s Wonder Garden provides an interactive experience, especially for children. Here, they can feed lambs, fish, and rabbits, fostering a connection with the animal kingdom. The mini-train and bumper cars add an extra layer of fun to the visit.
