Guilin Medical University

Established in 1935 as the Guilin Senior Nurse Midwifery School, Guilin Medical University has a rich history. The university, now known as GLMU, sits here before you, a testament to decades of growth and transformation. In 1958, it became the Guilin Medical School. A significant leap occurred in 1987 when it achieved undergraduate college status. Guilin Medical University was granted permission to train international students in 1993. This opened its doors to a wider world and solidified its place on the global stage. By 2006, GLMU had expanded further, gaining authorization to offer graduate programs. This expansion cemented its reputation as a comprehensive medical institution. The Ministry of Education of China recognized GLMU’s dedication to education, naming it an “Excellent University” in 2012. Guilin Medical University boasts three campuses: Lequn, Dongcheng, and Lingui. Lequn, the oldest, is nestled in downtown Guilin, conveniently located across from the Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical University. This provides students with invaluable hands-on training.
