Guilin Medical University GLMU has a rich history. It started as Guilin Senior Nurse Midwifery School in 1935. In 1958 it transformed and became Guilin Medical School. The former State Board of Education approved its upgrade to a college in 1987. This allowed it to train medical undergraduates. By 1993 the college began training foreign students. In 2006 it gained authorization to conduct graduate programs. In 2012 GLMU earned recognition as an Excellent University by the Ministry of Education of China.
