Established in 2007, Guhyun High School quickly gained recognition. In November 2007, it was approved for establishment. A week later, the Ministry of Education designated Guhyun High School as a pilot school. It was part of the “creatively operating autonomous school” initiative.
The first principal, Han Myeong-bok, assumed leadership in March 2008. The first entrance ceremony was held shortly after. 299 students began their high school journey here.
In March 2009, Guhyun High School was designated a research school. It focused on the classroom system. This innovative approach to education set Guhyun High School apart. In March 2010, Guhyun High School became a pilot school. It operated as an autonomous public high school.
The first graduation ceremony took place in February 2011. 289 students graduated. Lee Eui-soon became the 5th principal in March 2022.
In February 2023, Guhyun High School celebrated its 13th graduation. 244 students graduated, bringing the total to 3,753 graduates. A new class of 264 students entered Guhyun High School in March 2023.
