When will the construction of Guanqiao Station be finished? That’s a question on many people’s minds.

Hello everyone. Welcome to our tour. Today we’re exploring Guanqiao Station. This station is a future part of Guangzhou Metro’s Line 4. It will be an elevated station serving the Panyu District.

Guanqiao Station is located in Guanqiao Village in Shilou Town. The Chinese name for the station is written as 官桥站. This station is eagerly awaited by local residents.

Originally, Guanqiao Station was planned but not immediately built with the rest of Line 4. The area was mainly farmland. There wasn’t even a road to the outside world. Only equipment for the signal system was installed at the site. The full station construction was put on hold.

Around 2020, plans changed. The Guangzhou–Huizhou intercity railway was nearing completion. Planners wanted to connect passengers to this intercity line via Guanqiao Station. Preliminary designs were approved in February 2021.

The initial plan was to begin construction in the second half of 2021. It was scheduled to open in 2024. A supervision tender was issued in October of that year. However, it was suspended in March 2022. The bidding process restarted in May 2022.

In September 2022, officials announced that the project bidding was complete. Preliminary work began. This included land acquisition and construction approvals. Finally, in February 2024, construction of the steel structure commenced.

The Guangzhou Metro Co. Ltd. will operate Guanqiao Station. It will have two side platforms and two tracks. The station code is 416. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Interestingly, there is another station nearby called Guanqiao North railway station. It opened on May 26, 2024. This station is part of the Guangzhou–Huizhou intercity railway. It was initially named Guanqiao but was renamed to avoid confusion with another station in Shandong Province.

The future Guanqiao Station on Line 4 will be connected to Guanqiao North via an overpass. This will provide easy transfers between the metro and the intercity railway. Guanqiao North railway station has three exits labeled A, B1, and B2.

So, while Guanqiao Station is still under construction. It promises to be an important transportation hub. It will connect the local community to both the Guangzhou Metro and the wider intercity rail network. Keep an eye out for its opening in 2026. It will greatly improve connectivity in this area.
