“Another school day begins,” I hear little Tim say. Right in front of us stands the Grundschule Obere Luisenschule. It is more than just a school. It’s a place of learning and growth for 171 children.
The Obere Luisenschule enjoys a fantastic location. It sits near the Küchwald forest, the Eissportkomplex, and the Botanical Garden. These offer many field trip opportunities for the students. Imagine the learning adventures.
Inside, the Obere Luisenschule has eight classrooms. There is also a computer lab. Art, music, and English each have their special rooms. A dining hall and a library also exist. The library even offers computer games. Since this school year, two after-school rooms are used as classrooms.
The schoolyard is a mix of surfaces. Paved areas meet seating and play equipment. Grassy areas also feature. Next door, a leisure garden provides more space. It includes a soccer field and eight raised garden beds. These invite relaxation and play. The sports field is very close to the Obere Luisenschule.
The Obere Luisenschule is equipped for the digital age. It is part of the Digitalization Pact. iPads and computers are available. WLAN is 100% available. LAN is also 100% available. Most classrooms have digital displays such as beamers and smartboards.
The school library has 300 books and media. Students can use it during breaks. It is open on Mondays from 13:30 to 15:00. A teacher manages the library.
The Obere Luisenschule offers many activities. These include cross-country runs and Kindersprint events. They also do collections for old materials. Math and reading competitions encourage students. There are projects for Christmas and Easter too.
The school focuses on language support. It is a support school for children with speech problems. Classes include students learning German. An inclusion assistant supports the children. A school social worker is also available since 2021.
The Obere Luisenschule has great internet speed. Download and upload speeds both reach 1000 MBit/s. The school has 34 PCs. It also has 50 mobile devices.
The school has sports facilities. There is one sports hall. Also, one outdoor sports area exists. There is even access to a swimming hall in Chemnitz.
Outside, the school provides fun options. Two climbing frames and a soccer field stand ready. Willow teepees and climbing poles add to the fun. A sandbox completes the play area. A lawn and terraces offer places to rest.
The Obere Luisenschule also participates in local events. They sell crafts and cookies at the Luisenplatz pyramid event. The money helps fund school projects.
The team at the Obere Luisenschule welcomes new students each year. They greet returning students with joy after the holidays. The Förderverein supports the school too. You can support them by shopping online.
The Obere Luisenschule provides a rich environment. It supports students’ learning and well-being. This creates a nurturing and engaging experience. The Obere Luisenschule is more than just a school. It is a community.
