Grundschule Heidhorst

Tucked away in the Boberg district of Hamburg, Grundschule Heidhorst isn’t just any school. It’s a place where music fills the air and nature walks inspire young minds. Grundschule Heidhorst opened its doors in 2000. Now, it nurtures around 300 students across three grade levels, each with three classes. There are also preschool classes and two international preparatory classes. Grundschule Heidhorst is an inclusive school. This means it embraces children of all abilities. Students with special needs in language, learning, or emotional and social development learn alongside gifted children. Everyone learns together. Music plays a big role at Grundschule Heidhorst. Through the “Jedem Kind ein Instrument” (Jeki) program, every child gets to learn an instrument. This often leads to students continuing their musical journey in secondary school music classes or activity groups. Math is also a focus. As a PriMa school, Grundschule Heidhorst emphasizes math education. Just outside the classroom, the school garden beckons. It’s a popular spot and supports project work in science classes. The school also has a science workshop to make learning even more hands-on. Grundschule Heidhorst takes learning beyond its walls. A partnership with the Boberger Niederung Nature Conservation Centre brings students to the beautiful surrounding nature. Here, they learn about various topics through firsthand experience. Grundschule Heidhorst became a partially bound all-day school in 2012. This allows for a diverse range of educational opportunities beyond regular classes. The school works with its own staff and partners with the TSG Bergedorf and the neighboring youth center. This collaboration enriches the learning experience. The school employs qualified instructors for the afternoon programs. From music and math to nature and gardening, Grundschule Heidhorst is a place where learning flourishes.
