“Am Röthepfuhl,” the children cheer. It is more than just a name. It is a place of learning and growth. Grundschule am Röthepfuhl stands as a testament to Ruhlsdorf’s history. It is a place where young minds blossom.

The school’s story begins in the early 20th century. The village needed a new school. The old Pfarrhaus was no longer sufficient. In 1906, the community decided to build a new one. Landrat Ernst von Stubenrauch attended a meeting on October 20th. They chose a triangular plot. It lay between Gütergotzer Straße and Sputendorfer Straße. The community bought the two-morgen area for 8000 Mark.

Construction of Grundschule am Röthepfuhl took place from 1907 to 1908. The building was modern for its time. It connected to the new gas and water network. The apartments had hot water heating. The classrooms had steam heating. Total construction costs were 94000 Mark including the land. The school opened in March 1908.

Grundschule am Röthepfuhl offered space for four classrooms. It also provided two rooms for married teachers. A room was available for an unmarried teacher. There was also accommodation for the school servant.

The building itself is remarkable. It features red brick and an arched entrance. Bossenwerk adorns the sides. Three rectangular windows sit above. A tower with a clock and pointed dome completes the structure. The upper floor is plastered and painted yellow. The building has a gabled roof with three dormers on each side.

Today, Grundschule am Röthepfuhl continues to serve its community. It operates as a primary school and a day care center. The school building is now a protected monument.

The name “Am Röthepfuhl” comes from the nearby Röthepfuhl. This adds to the school’s local significance. The school is not just a place of education. It is part of the village’s identity.

Imagine the sounds of children playing. Picture teachers guiding their students. Grundschule am Röthepfuhl has been a center of village life for over a century. It reflects Ruhlsdorf’s commitment to education. The school has adapted to meet changing needs. It remains a vital part of the community.

Grundschule am Röthepfuhl is more than bricks and mortar. It is a place of memories and aspirations. Generations of students have passed through its doors. Each has left their mark on the school’s history. The school will continue to educate and inspire.
