Three hundred children. That’s how many students currently attend Grundschule Ahlem. Imagine the bustling energy. The laughter echoing from the playground. The quiet concentration in the classrooms. Grundschule Ahlem isn’t just a school. It’s a vibrant heart of the Ahlem district in Hanover.
Nestled between Richard-Lattorf-Strasse and a large park Grundschule Ahlem welcomes children not only from Ahlem itself but also from the Seelze districts of Velber and Letter-Süd. It’s a testament to the community spirit. A place where children from diverse backgrounds learn and grow together.
The school building itself is impressive. It stretches over three floors. Fifteen classrooms house eager young minds. There are also administrative offices teachers’ rooms a computer room and even two small resource rooms. The basement is equally impressive. It houses another classroom a school library a kitchen a workshop and yet another small resource room.
And then there’s the sports hall. A large multi-field sports hall complete with bleachers. Next to it sits the “Pausenhalle” or break hall. This space isn’t just for breaks. It’s where PE and music classes take place. It also hosts theater performances and school productions. There is even a small kitchen here. The Förderverein a parent support association uses it to provide healthy snacks during the “gesunde Pause” or healthy break.
Stepping outside you discover a nature-friendly playground with climbing opportunities and play equipment. There’s even a green classroom. It’s used for lessons and small performances. A separate area houses a school garden. The children at Grundschule Ahlem are fortunate. They have access to a wide range of learning environments.
Fourth graders have an additional unique experience. They participate in swimming lessons. They travel by bus line 581 to the Stöckener Bad swimming pool. The bus conveniently stops directly in front of the school. The trip takes approximately 15 minutes.
