Every Sunday morning at 930 am a special atmosphere fills the air around Grovely Christian Community Church. This is more than just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant hub for families and people of all ages. Grovely Christian Community Church has a rich history. It started humbly as an open-air Sunday school in 1955. Mr Alfred Memmott and Gordon Memmott led this school near the Grovely Railway Station. Following the Billy Graham Crusade sixteen people joined their fellowship services. These early services took place in Mr Memmott’s house.
Today Grovely Christian Community Church is a thriving member of the Christian Community Churches of Australia. Its Sunday morning worship service lasts for about ninety minutes. The service includes Bible readings songs and exultations. The congregation actively participates in worship. The service culminates with partaking of the Lord’s table every week. A thirty-minute sermon follows. Keyboard piano and bass drums accompany the singing.
The church caters to all ages. There is even a parents’ room with its own speaker and a glass window. This allows parents with infants or young children to participate fully in the service. Young adults have their own weekly program called Crossfire on Saturdays. This includes Bible studies group activities and outings like hiking and badminton. They even participate in CYC camps.
Grovely Christian Community Church actively engages with the wider community. It runs Christian programs in schools music programs for mothers and infants and a Christmas shoebox program. They also help needy families. The church also holds community events like free car washes carols under the stars and even screenings of the State of Origin rugby league game. There’s no dress code just come comfortably and decently.
