Founded in 1873, Greenview Church stands before you as a testament to faith and community. Greenview Church has witnessed 150 years of Glasgow’s history unfold. The church began as a shared vision of eight men. They rented Templars Hall on Main Street, driven by their love for Jesus Christ. Greenview Church wasn’t always at this location. The congregation met in various buildings throughout the Pollokshaws area. They finally settled at the corner of Pollokshaws Road and Leckie Street in 1934. Imagine children’s laughter echoing through the halls during Sunday School. Families gathered for worship, their lives intertwined with the church’s history. One member, Matthew McKinnon, shared his family’s story. They joined Greenview Church in 1941, finding a welcoming community. He was later baptized and married within its walls, raising his family alongside his siblings and their children within the Greenview Church family. The church has been a beacon of faith and outreach. Missionaries from Greenview Church traveled to Asia, Africa, India, and the Americas. They carried the gospel and served others. The church also supported youth work, even purchasing buses to bring children from surrounding areas to various activities. Today, the legacy continues. Greenview Church remains a vibrant part of Glasgow’s spiritual landscape.
