Green Valley Baptist Church isn’t just a building. It’s a story etched in faith and community. It began humbly in 1982. Pastors Gary and Meg Morefield arrived in Las Vegas. They started a church with eleven people. Four were family members. This small group met in a home. It marked the genesis of Green Valley Christian Center. Later it became Green Valley Baptist Church.
Their first service was held in a private home. Soon though they outgrew that space. The congregation moved to the Henderson Convention Center. From there they rented a sanctuary downtown. Growth continued. Miraculously three acres of land were donated. This allowed construction of their own building in Henderson. Green Valley a growing community welcomed them.
The church grew. It became so big they started a Christian preschool. A new building phase began in 1992. A kindergarten class opened. A three-story educational wing was added in 1999. In 2007 a high school opened. The first graduating class walked in 2014. Now multiple weekend services cater to diverse preferences. They offer Gospel and contemporary worship. The message remains constant.
