This church was founded by a small group of believers who gathered in each other’s homes for worship. The church was officially organized on April 25, 1946. In its early days, it was known as the “tent church,” because the members met in a tent while they built the first church building. The first building was built on Nance and Bayou Streets, but in 1950, it was moved to its current location at Grove and Baer. The church has grown significantly since those early days, and they have expanded their building twice to accommodate their ever-growing congregation. This church has a rich history of serving the community. They host outreach programs like back-to-school drives and feeding the hungry to care for their neighbors.
