On November 18 1984 a new chapter unfolded. It began humbly in the basement of Pastor and Sister Robinson’s home. This was the genesis of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Located at 20275 Forrer Street Detroit Michigan it marked the beginning of a vibrant community. Rev Robinson served as the mission’s superintendent. His wife and children were among the first members. Four of Pastor Robinson’s sisters and their children also joined the burgeoning congregation.

Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church is more than just a building. It’s a testament to faith perseverance and community. From its humble beginnings in a basement it grew. It steadily expanded its influence in Detroit. The church embodies the spirit of its motto “Building A Community To Build A Community”. This reflects its deep commitment to both spiritual and social growth.

The church’s growth was remarkable. On January 20 1985 it was formally organized at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Rev Frank Robinson Jr was elected pastor. This marked a pivotal moment in the church’s history. Less than a year later on July 21 1985 Greater Faith purchased its first building. This was a storefront on 13019 Puritan Avenue. This allowed the congregation to further expand its reach and impact.

The next significant step came on April 24 1994. Greater Faith moved to its current location at 4438 Rosa Parks Boulevard. This larger space allowed for significant growth and the development of diverse ministries. This location became a hub for community engagement and spiritual enrichment. Pastor Robinson’s dedication played a huge role in this progression. He’s served as the church’s first and only pastor.

Pastor Robinson’s legacy extends far beyond the church walls. He’s a loving husband and father. Ordained in January 1983 he’s dedicated his life to service. He holds an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Union Baptist Seminary School of Theology. He’s also a graduate of Southern Baptist Seminary. He furthered his education at William Tyndale College. His dedication to Christian education led him to become a DCEAC Certified Dean and Instructor. His work extended to the Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship of Detroit and Vicinity and the Westside Ministers Alliance. He also served as President of the Crystal Lake Missionary Baptist District Association. His achievements demonstrate the church’s deep commitment to community involvement and leadership. Pastor Robinson also founded the Immanuel Bible Institute Christian Leadership School.

The story of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church is a powerful illustration. It shows the enduring power of faith community and unwavering dedication.
