Beyond the doors of Greater Life Baptist Church lies a story of faith and community. Greater Life Church has stood as a beacon in the Emerald Hills community since 1973. It was first established at 1025 Kelton Road.
In March 2018, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting expansion project. Over 100 people gathered at 938 Derby Street. This expansion aimed to create the Greater Life Campus. The GLBC Music Ministry led a call to worship. Scripture readings and prayers followed. Speakers included Pastor Terry Wayne Brooks and Bishop A.B. Vines. The family of the late pastor and founder, Rev. Willie Manley, received recognition. The expansion would more than double the worship space.
December 5th, 2020 marked the completion of Phase 1. A virtual ribbon cutting and open house celebrated this milestone at 1012 Derby Street. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, excitement filled the air. City Council representative Monica Montgomery Steppe attended. Charter members and a representative of Rev. Willie E. Manley were also present. Pastor Errick Gaffney of New Bethel Baptist Church joined the celebration. Mr. Adib Mahdi, CEO of King Mahdi Builders Inc., led the virtual tour.
Pastor Nate Stewart shared his vision. He stated that this was the beginning of a three-phase building expansion. Interior renovations included new lighting, carpet, restrooms, and sound. A new HVAC system was also installed.
Pastor Nate Stewart received a calling in September 2017. He relocated from Georgia to become the third Senior Pastor. Under his leadership, Greater Life Church experienced growth. Attendance, membership, and giving increased significantly. This growth created the need for more space.
Greater Life Church became a diverse and multicultural ministry. Its mission is to love and lead people to a greater life. Phase 2 of the Expansion Project was scheduled to begin in April 2021.
