Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Houston, Texas, stands the Greater Faith Baptist Church. It’s a beacon of faith and community, a place where lives are transformed through the Word of God. Greater Faith Baptist Church isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the power of faith and perseverance. The church, under the leadership of Bishop Marcel Miles, welcomes everyone, regardless of their level of faith. They aim to create an atmosphere of liberty where miracles, signs, and wonders can manifest.
Greater Faith Church offers a variety of services. Sunday starts with Committed Men at 8:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and Morning Worship at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday nights are dedicated to Bible Study at 7:30 p.m. The church also has a rich history. It began as Firnat Missionary Baptist Church in July 1978, with a mere seven members under the guidance of Rev. Will C. Moore. They initially held services at the corner of Firnat and Sundown.
By 1980, the congregation had grown to fifteen members and, led by the spirit, purchased land across the street to build a new church. Construction began in February 1981. Despite the significant undertaking, the church community, through tithing and offerings, managed to fund the entire project without incurring any debt. The new Firnat building opened its doors in May 1983, marking a significant milestone in their journey of faith. Greater Faith Church continues this spirit of giving by actively supporting the community. They provide a food pantry for those in need and aim to create an inclusive environment for people from all walks of life. They invite everyone to join their Wednesday Bible Study at 6:30 p.m. to learn and grow in their faith.
Greater Faith Church is more than just a place of worship. It is a vibrant hub of community outreach and spiritual growth. From its humble beginnings as Firnat Missionary Baptist Church to its current standing as a beacon of hope in Houston, Greater Faith Church continues to transform lives through the power of faith, community, and service.
