Is it possible for a building to be a lighthouse? Most would say no, but the Grand Anse Baptist Church in Saint George’s might just challenge that notion. This isn’t about a towering structure guiding ships with a beacon. It’s about a different kind of guidance. This church is a beacon of faith and a symbol of resilience for the community. The Grand Anse Baptist Church started its journey on March 15th, 1981, under the leadership of Dr. Carter Davis. The church’s early years were marked by a nomadic existence, moving between various locations. Finally, in 1989, a piece of land on Maurice Bishop Highway was purchased, and the dream of a permanent home began to take shape. The church building we see today was dedicated on March 21st, 1991. This marked a new chapter in the church’s story, one of growth and community service. For fifteen years, Pastor Clarence Henry guided the congregation, leaving an indelible mark on the church’s identity. He was succeeded by Pastor Royston Isaac, a visionary leader with a passion for empowering individuals and spreading faith throughout Grenada. Pastor Isaac’s dedication spanned over two decades. In January 2020, he retired, passing the torch to Pastor Harrison George. Pastor George, formerly the Assistant Pastor, officially assumed his role on November 14th, 2021, ready to lead the Grand Anse Baptist Church into the future. So, while it might not have a physical light, the Grand Anse Baptist Church shines brightly in the hearts of its community, guiding them with faith and unwavering support.
