Founded in 1984 Grace Unity Missionary Baptist Church stands proudly in Houston. It began as a small gathering in the home of Rev John Denton Murdock Sr. Twenty-five members formed the core of this burgeoning congregation. Rev Murdock served as the church’s first pastor. His assistant pastor was Rev RL Alston.

Growth necessitated a move to 4315 Shelby Circle. A new building was constructed and completed in 2002 a testament to the church’s expanding community. This building reflects the dedication and faith of its members. The church continued to thrive under Rev Murdock’s leadership.

In September 2013 Rev Robert C Jamerson Sr became the church’s second pastor. He continued the legacy of growth. He oversaw significant upgrades to the sanctuary. Rev Jamerson’s vision extends beyond the walls of the church. He established a clothing drive and food ministry to serve the community’s needs. His focus is on addressing spiritual and physical needs. The church strives to be a beacon of hope.

Grace Unity Missionary Baptist Church aims to revitalize its community. The vision encompasses a dynamic multicultural congregation. The church wants to serve not only Houston but also the nation and the world. Leadership development and church planting are key goals.
