Kids are welcome too. All ages are welcome from infants to older children. From sitting quietly, to drawing on bulletins, even screaming and crying is ok. Grace loves all children. They celebrate having them in worship.
Communion is celebrated one Sunday a month. It is usually the first Sunday. All are welcome to share in this sacred meal. You only need to love God, repent of your sin, and seek peace with others. If you prefer not to take Communion, you can remain in your pew. You can also come forward for a pastoral blessing. Simply cross your arms over your chest. A pastor will pray for you. If mobility is a challenge, communion servers will bring the elements to you. Just let an usher know.
United Methodists celebrate Holy Baptism for persons of any age. Older children, youth, and adults participate in a special ritual. A pastor conducts the ritual. A small amount of water is placed on the head. Then chrism oil is applied to the forehead or hands. United Methodists do not believe in re-baptism.
The Sunday morning service includes a 15-20 minute sermon. Pastors deliver scripture-based messages. These tie into Bible readings, current events, and liturgical seasons. The Lord’s Prayer is a regular part of the service. It’s printed in the bulletin. Pray in any language that feels prayerful to you.
