“Grace and Peace” – a name that whispers hope and promises comfort. Standing tall on West Courtland Street, this unassuming building holds within its walls a vibrant community of faith. Founded by a group of dedicated Christians yearning for a community-based church, Grace and Peace was born as a Sunday School class at Tenth Presbyterian Church. Initially, they gathered in a storefront, praying and strategizing their mission. But soon, their neighbors, many of whom didn’t share their faith, requested they open their doors for worship services. And so, in July 2010, the community embraced this fledgling fellowship. As their congregation grew, they moved to a local YMCA basketball court and, eventually, into a renovated warehouse where they continue to gather today. Despite financial struggles, Grace and Peace persevered, seeing God build his church through the power of the Gospel and the love it inspires in its people. They remain committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, with their mission grounded in the love and grace that define their namesake.
