“Established in 1977, Good News Lutheran Church is more than just a building.” Good News Lutheran Church began as a community with a shared vision. They wanted to worship together. They also aimed to support the Centenary community. Their focus was on providing holistic support to children and their families.
The Good News Lutheran Church’s story is intertwined with the growth of the community. The Kindergarten started at the same time as the church. It remains vibrant. Some original students now enroll their own children. In 1984 Good News Lutheran School commenced. It is known as a caring school with quality educational programs. Good News Lutheran is a leader in Lutheran education.
Beyond primary school, Good News Lutheran Church offers youth ministry programs. They also participate in Lutheran Youth of Queensland camps. The congregation is multi-generational. Small groups cater to various ages and interests.
Initially, the church met in the current Kindergarten building. In 2001, they opened a shared space within Good News Lutheran School. Here, Good News communities gather for Sunday services. School chapels are also held here during the week. The facility is in the center of the site.
The Good News Lutheran Church is connected to the Lutheran Church of Australia. Their values reflect God’s grace. Their Lutheran identity is important. They welcome everyone as a child of God. They acknowledge that all are sinners. They grow their faith through God’s word. They value relationships as a reflection of God’s love. They use their God-given gifts with transparency and accountability.
