Now, let’s leap forward to October 28, 2000. A group gathered at Christ Holy Temple Baptist Church. They met to discuss organizing a new church. Rev. Herman Williams, pastor of the Temple, saw the potential. He extended the Right Hand of Fellowship to 86 persons. These were the Charter Members of Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church.

The first worship happened on October 29, 2000. It took place at Sandra Clark’s Funeral Home Chapel. 122 people attended. The church then shared a facility with Community First Baptist Church. Rev. Mickey O. Gerald welcomed them.

Attendance tripled. A move was necessary. On April 29, 2001, services moved to T. W. Browne Middle School Auditorium. The search for a permanent home continued. Prayers were answered. On September 16, 2001, the first service was held at their present location.

October 24, 2001 marked the first pastoral election. Rev. Fabian K. Jacko became the first pastor on December 2, 2001. Within a year, two morning worship services were needed. In 2009, the church paid off its debt. The 10th anniversary was celebrated in 2010. It was celebrated debt-free.

As the church prepared for its 20th anniversary, COVID-19 changed plans. The theme was “Moving With God in a New Direction.” It was based on Deuteronomy 2:1-3. The church continues to trust in the Lord. They rely on Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.”
