“What is Unity?” asks a sign in my mind. I see God Land Unity Church here in Detroit. It is a non-denominational Christian center. It focuses on Spiritual Truth.
God Land Unity teaches the Holy Bible’s metaphysical perspective. It also teaches New Thought principles. These principles offer a unique way to understand our connection to the divine.
The Unity belief system has five basic ideas. First, God is the source and creator. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere. Second, we are spiritual beings. We are created in God’s image. The Spirit of God lives within each person. Therefore, all people are inherently good.
Third, we create our life experiences. We do this through our way of thinking. Fourth, there is power in affirmative prayer. It increases our awareness of God. Fifth, knowledge of these principles is not enough. We must live them.
God Land Unity Church was founded in 1995. Rev. Ron D. Coleman Sr. founded it. He was a beloved leader. He led a life of love and compassion. He taught his congregation to practice heaven on earth through prayer. Rev. Coleman believed the kingdom of God is a state of consciousness. In this state, the soul and body are in harmony with Divine Mind.
