Has anyone ever told you about the heart of the Isle of Man? Glen Vine isn’t just a picturesque village nestled in the valley between Douglas and Peel. It’s a living story, woven with threads of history and speed. Glen Vine is known for its thrilling connection to the Isle of Man TT course. This isn’t just any road; it’s a legendary track where racers push their limits at the infamous Ballagarey bend, often called “Ballascarey.” Imagine the roar of engines echoing through the valley as bikes navigate this tricky turn. Glen Vine is more than just a spectator spot though. It’s a community with deep roots. The heart of this village is St Runius Church. This beautiful church, designed by architect Ewan Christian, was consecrated in 1859. Its story began in 1844 with a generous land donation from Phillip Killey, a future Captain of the Parish. Over the years, the church has seen additions and renovations, like the new vestry in 1899 and a new roof in 1958. The south transept even found new life as a meeting room. Glen Vine is also home to Marown Primary School, built in the 1980s and expanded in 2001. It’s a testament to the thriving community that calls this village home. Glen Vine offers a blend of tranquility and excitement. You can enjoy the peace of the rolling hills and the convenience of being just a short drive from the capital, Douglas. It is a unique blend of history, heart-stopping action, and community spirit.
