A glass shard piercing the Milanese sky. That’s Gioia 22. It stands tall a testament to modern architecture and sustainable design. This isn’t just another skyscraper. Gioia 22 is a symbol of Milan’s innovative spirit.

Before it stood here a 1960s building stood abandoned since 2012. It was demolished in 2018 to make way for this marvel. Over 200 tons of asbestos were removed a process of careful remediation. The new Gioia 22 is incredibly different. It’s the current ninth tallest building in Milan reaching a height of 121.4 meters.

Designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners Gioia 22 is more than just steel and glass. It’s Italy’s first nearly net-zero energy building. The building uses 75% less energy than traditional office buildings. This is due to the 6000 square meters of photovoltaic panels on its facade. These panels generate 65 percent of the energy needed for heating and cooling. The building even exceeds Milan’s energy regulations by 15 percent.

Gioia 22 is the headquarters of Intesa Sanpaolo. This includes its Private Banking Asset Management and Insurance divisions. The building’s design integrates seamlessly with the urban landscape. It includes cycle paths pedestrian areas and green spaces. There are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Gioia 22 is truly a sustainable and forward-thinking structure. It’s part of the larger Porta Nuova project a significant urban regeneration effort in Milan.

Think of it. This is more than just an office building. It’s a statement. A statement about sustainability about innovation about the future of urban design. Gioia 22 stands tall a beacon of progress in the heart of Milan. It’s a must-see for anyone who appreciates cutting-edge architecture and eco-friendly design. And it’s a perfect example of how innovation and sustainability can work together. Gioia 22 is not merely a building it is a symbol.
