Originally created in the early 1800s by the Marzorati family, the Giardino di Villa Zorn was once a showcase of formal Italian design. Imagine perfectly manicured hedges of boxwood and laurel, their fragrance filling the air, leading to a grand fountain. Today, only the fountain remains from that era, a silent witness to the garden’s transformation. In 1870, the Zorn family, Austrian officials with a love for nature, acquired the property. It was Clara Zorn, wife of Gustav, who had a vision. She reimagined the Giardino di Villa Zorn, transforming it into a romantic landscape park inspired by English gardens. Rare plants, exotic flowers, and aromatic herbs from all corners of the world found a home here. Over 500 species thrived under her care, their colors and scents a feast for the senses. The Giardino di Villa Zorn, once a hidden gem, is now a beloved public park, a testament to the enduring power of nature and the vision of those who shaped it.
