“This place holds a thousand stories,” whispered a woman as she passed, her eyes fixed on the Giáo xứ Tam Hải. Was she right? What tales were held within those walls, beneath that cross? This unassuming church, Giáo xứ Tam Hải, is a monument to resilience. It’s a tapestry woven from the threads of displacement, faith, and unwavering community. Imagine, in 1955, families fleeing their homes in the north, seeking refuge in the south. Among them were those who found solace in their faith, gathering in makeshift chapels. Two such groups, led by Father Giuse Bùi Quang Đông and Fathers Gioan Lý Văn Hảo and Phaolô Nguyễn Quang Hiển, sought to rebuild. One group, made up of those from Khác Giản and Hải Phòng, established themselves in what is now known as the Phanxicô area. The other, hailing from Hà Nội, Lợi Trạch, Nam Am, and Hải Phòng settled in what is now Giáo xứ Tam Hải. Initially, two separate chapels, Tam Hà 1 and Tam Hải, stood testament to their hope. But destiny had other plans. In 1957, these fledgling communities, bound by faith and shared experience, merged. They formed Giáo xứ Tam Hải, placing their trust in their leader, Father Antôn Phạm Đình Trường. Giáo xứ Tam Hải became more than just a place of worship. It became a beacon of education with a school established by Father Trường, offering solace and opportunity in uncertain times. The story of Giáo xứ Tam Hải is not a linear narrative. It twists and turns through decades, each chapter marked by challenges, triumphs, and the unwavering spirit of its people. As you stand here, consider the legacy. Consider the countless lives touched by this sanctuary’s enduring presence. Giáo xứ Tam Hải whispers a silent testament to the enduring power of faith, community and the enduring human spirit.
